Our
Mission . . .
at Operation
Goody Bag
who we are:
America's First Responders sacrifice time away from their families
to keep our families safe.
Operation Goody
Bag
is a student-centered
service
learning
initiative specifically designed to express appreciation for that
sacrifice
and to develop in students an awareness of the value of service.
Operation Goody Bag
ships brown lunch
bags, hand colored in patriotic themes filled with candy, gum, a
personal letter, original poetry and puzzles to America's First
Responders.
Just a little brown
bag bringing a little bit of home to those that serve.
Through Collection
Drives, Letter Writing Initiatives
and Donations
. . . Operation Goody
Bag provides all
Americans with an easy way to personally express their appreciation
to the men and women
serving at home and abroad to keep America safe.
Operation Goody Bag
is a service initiative of
Tomorrow's First Responders,
a 501(c)(3) non-profit all volunteer corporation, funded entirely by
private donations.
For
safety and security, final assembling process occurs at site chosen and
monitored by a representative of Tomorrow's First Responders organization.
What we do:
Students design Goody
Bags, write personal letters of appreciation, create
original poetry and puzzles and hold fundraisers for candy and postage
costs. This service
learning experience
creates a bond of friendship and respect between children,
communities, and First Responder organizations and an awareness of the
value of service. This bond will help to inspire students to
prepare to participate as an active member in these groups.
As of July
4, 2005, we have shipped
20,000 Goody Bags
to U.S. military personnel as well as local Fire, Rescue, Ambulance, and
K9 organizations,
Veterans' Homes, VFW Posts, military hospitals and US military academies.
Operation Goody Bag . . .
Expressions
of Gratitude
for those who keep America safe.
