Our
Mission . . .
at TOMORROW'S
FIRST
RESPONDERS
who we are:
September 11, 2001. . .
a day of tragedy and loss
awakened a deeper appreciation for America's First Responders.
That day inspired the need for
TOMORROW'S FIRST
RESPONDERS
a multi-faceted, student-centered
service
learning
initiative specifically designed to express appreciation for the sacrifice
of America's First Responders, to develop in students the value of service
and to create an awareness of career opportunities in these organizations.
tomorrow's
first responders is
a 501(c)(3) non-profit all volunteer corporation, funded entirely by
private donations.
What we do:
tomorrow's first responders
creates a bond of friendship and respect between
children, parents, communities, First Responders, commercial businesses,
Senior Citizen and Veteran Groups and America's Armed Forces.
Activities include:
--
Creation of Multi-Media tributes to honor America's First Responders
--Emergency Services assembly programs
--Student field
trips to local First Responder facilities
--Fundraising events to support First Responders
--Annual
community "Night of Remembrance & Hope" tribute to 9/11
--Veteran's Home "Salute to the Troops" show
--US Navy Day
partnership celebration
--Tribute to the US Marines show
--US IWO
JIMA Fleet Week Show
--operation goody bag
initiative
Through this relationship, students are exposed to
volunteer and career opportunities available in their communities.
Students design Goody Bags, write personal letters of appreciation, create
original poetry and puzzles and hold fund raisers for candy and postage
costs.
As of
Valentine's Day
2005, we have shipped 12,814
Goody Bags
to U.S. military personnel as well as local Fire, Rescue, Ambulance, and
K9 organizations,
Veterans' Homes, and VFW Posts.
Operation Goody Bag . . . expressions
of gratitude for those who keep America safe.
